Diwali - Meaning and Life Thoughts

Lighting Diyas during Diwali-The Festival of Lights. 🪔 Diwali – Meaning and Life Thoughts There is a great magic in the word ' Diwali' . As soon as this word is pronounced, a wave of happiness, joy, and excitement is created in our mind. Although primarily a Hindu festival, Diwali is also celebrated in various forms by people of other religions✨ We give Diwali a big place in our lives. We plan our big purchases on Diwali, and even in our everyday talk, we often ask jokingly, “Is it Diwali today?” when someone demands something special. The thought of Diwali begins much earlier, almost 15–20 days before the festival.   In conversations, the word “Diwali” itself is enough to bring positivity. During this time, people avoid taking negative decisions like dismissal, recovery, or seizure. Even when real life brings challenges, nobody misses the chance to celebrate Diwali. The preparations—making sky lanterns, putting up fairy lights, decorating homes—fill the atmosphere with joy...

Self-Medication: Quick Relief or Silent Danger?

Self -medication with pills in hand-quick relief or silent danger.
Self-medication feels easy, but the risks remain unseen.

🌟 Self-Medication: Quick Relief or Silent Danger?

In today’s fast-paced life, everyone is looking for quick relief. But is this comfort just temporary, hiding a bigger silent danger.
📝 I am not a doctor, but I have written the following based on the experiences of my relatives, acquaintances, and my own. Not everyone will feel the same way, or everyone will have the same experience.

---

💊 Everyday Self-Medication Examples

Sneezing, eyes hurt, red, ears hurt, put drops, cough, take a cup of syrup, lips cracked, apply lip balm, stomach ache, gas, acidity, toothache, sore throat, body ache, take pills.

---

👉 How long will this temporary solution be used?

Headache, stiff neck, stiff legs, waist ache, apply balm, spray, hair started falling, white spots started appearing, apply shampoo, pimples appeared on the face, apply ointment, face wash, face pack, such remedies are being used everywhere.

---

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Why Is Self-Medication Increasing?

Such self-medication is being done by friends, family members, relatives, or by hearing or seeing advertisements.

Because for this:

- There is no need to go to the doctor

- No prescription is required

- It is available everywhere

- It saves time and money

All this is happening because people are starting to value money and time more than health.
Due to the fast-paced lifestyle, the mentality that any pain should be cured immediately has been created
.
A negative mentality of avoiding consulting a doctor has been created.
Due to this, such self-medication is increasing.

⚠️ Real -Life Dangers of Self-Medication

If you continue like this, you have to suffer serious consequences later.

.
1. Painkiller Habit → Kidney Failure

A middle-aged man once suffered from regular joint pain. Instead of visiting a doctor, he relied on daily painkillers. In the beginning, it worked like magic. But slowly, his kidney function started failing. By the time he consulted a specialist, it was too late. He had to undergo dialysis. 👉 This shows how a simple habit of self-medication with painkillers can lead to kidney damage.

2.Antibiotics Misuse → No Effect in Real Infection

A young woman used antibiotics whenever she had a sore throat or mild fever. She didn’t consult any doctor. Over time, her body developed resistance to those antibiotics. Later, when she caught a serious infection, the medicines did not work. Doctors had to struggle with stronger, more expensive treatments. 👉 Antibiotics must always be taken under proper medical supervision.

3. Sleeping Pills → Mental Health Decline

A college student preparing for exams couldn’t sleep at night. Instead of building healthy habits, he started taking sleeping pills suggested by a friend. At first, it helped. But within months, he became dependent. His natural sleep cycle was destroyed, and his mental health suffered badly. 👉 Quick fixes often destroy the balance of mind and body.

4. Antacids-- Stomach Ulcer

There was a case of a young software professional who often experienced gastric acidity due to irregular meals. Instead of consulting a doctor, he kept using over-the-counter antacids every night. For months it gave him relief, but what he ignored was the root cause — a stomach ulcer slowly developing inside. When he finally went for a medical check-up, the ulcer had become severe and required long-term treatment. 👉 This shows how self-medication hides the real disease and delays proper care.

Similarly, in many rural and urban areas, people rely on pain balms and sprays for back pain or joint stiffness. These products may soothe temporarily, but if the actual reason is arthritis, nerve compression, or vitamin deficiency, the delay in proper diagnosis can make the condition worse.

Medical experts always warn: self-medication does not cure the disease, it only hides the symptoms. By the time the hidden illness comes forward, valuable time is already lost.

5. Cosmetic Creams → Skin Disorders

I Myself wanted to get rid of pimples quickly. I bought over-the-counter creams and used them daily. Within weeks, my skin turned darker and developed white patches. Dermatologists later confirmed that strong steroids in those creams had damaged my skin permanently. 👉 Self-medication is not limited to tablets or syrups—even random creams and shampoos can harm if misused.

Frequent shampooing causes baldness, frequent crams on the face, face wash, face pack, face darkening due to application, headache, limb pain, toothache, etc.

Taking painkillers like this has a huge impact on the liver, chest, kidney, pregnancy.

But no one is worried about this. Everything should be done quickly.

No one is ready to wait, wait, show patience.

---

🌿 Why Do People Take This Risk?

  • Advertisements mislead: “Instant relief, no side effects” attracts people.

  • Peer pressure: Friends or relatives casually suggest medicines.

  • Time-saving mindset: “No time for doctors, just swallow a pill.”

  • Lack of awareness: People do not know how dangerous these shortcuts are.

---

🌿 Grandma’s Wallet of Remedies

Do you remember! Earlier, grandma's wallet was in every house.

If there was any pain, there was a natural remedy for it. And it was very effective.
There were no side effects. But the benefits took some time to come.

Wrong advice, wrong treatment has serious consequences on the body.

Self-medication should be natural.

🌸 Marathi Proverb Insight

In Marathi, there is a proverb — “पी हळद हो गोरी”.
(It means: expecting instant and unrealistic results, like believing turmeric alone can suddenly make someone fair.)

👉 This proverb perfectly reflects today’s mindset — people want medicines to act like magic, giving immediate results, while ignoring the hidden dangers behind such shortcuts.

---

🐾 Even Animals Know Better

I have seen that other animals in nature, for example – cats, dogs, do not feel well, when they vomit, they eat a specific grass.

Elephants eat the leaves of a specific tree during pregnancy.
And they get better.

This intelligence is inherent in other animals except humans.

Due to this, humans are harming themselves by self-medicating like fools.

---

✅ Thoughtful Conclusion

Self-medication is like painting over a crack in the wall—it hides the problem but never repairs it. Real health comes only from awareness, patience, lifestyle changes, and medical guidance. Every pill taken without advice may look harmless, but inside, it can silently attack the body. 👉 Remember: quick comfort today can become a lifetime struggle tomorrow.

---

Note📌 Medicines should be taken only on the advice of a doctor.

💬 Your Turn

Dear readers, what do you think?
Do we really need a pill for every small problem, or should we go back to patience and natural remedies?
